I have heard the OLA is going to be moved because of it’s proximity to the water department.Does anyone know if this is true and if so where it may move to.

I’ve noticed that there are now special hours for small dogs,which I am in favor of.In fact those hours should be expanded.What I would like to see is special hours for large dogs.Last week I was in the park with my dog Rusty who is part Redbone Hound.Well Rusty likes to bark,and was barking at a small dog (and I do mean just barking)and the dog’s owners insisted Rusty was harassing their dog.I put Rusty on a leash to avoid any further conflict, but there should be times when I can bring my dog to the OLA and not have to content with the over reactive and over protective owners of some of the smaller dogs.I have nothing against the dogs,it’s the owners who are the problem (and only a couple of them).Most of the smaller and their owners get along fine with the larger dogs.If not special hours for large dogs then perhaps mandatory Prozac for those owners who fear their small dogs need to be hovered over every second.

I was just by the park. Unfortunately the gate has been damaged today. The whole front gate is down.

This dog park has been long over due! Fantastic park. Use to go to Hoyt Lake with my dog but was always worried about my dog running into the street. Only suggestion is… is there a way to separate the park into big dogs and small dogs? I have seen the small dogs getting trampled or attacked. I think this would make owners a little more comfortable bringing their dogs.

My husband and tried to bring our 2 BTs to lasalle on tuesday, 10/30 at 4:15 and again at 5:00. We hoped to be able to let them play during the Abner’s Hours. However, we could not let them out because there were too many large dogs, who weren’t supposed to be there. There were Great Danes, German Shepherds, and many other large dogs. We did not feel this was fair to the people with small dogs who should have been able to go there with their small dogs without worry. What can you do to enforce this law on Tuesdays and Sundays?

Can you please post the Small-Dog (Abner) Hours prominently on the blog (and maybe, below “Rules” at the park?) It would help make the transition is easier for everyone to comply with — there was confusion last week about what hours. It’s great that the website is restored — thanks to everyone who made this park-in-a-park possible!
