Many things are in the works to improve Buffalo’s 1st OLA. And number 1 is to better accomadate our smaller canines. The first step - which is a temporary band aid - is small dog hours at specified and posted hours. Small dogs are welcome at any time. We just ask that larger, active dogs avoid the specified hours until the fenced section for small dogs is installed. We’ll call them Abner hours after the Boston Terrier that was attacked by a Huskie. Check in for more news and write to us at BuffaloDogs@hotmail.com. Thanks, your OLA Board
I have been enjoying the park since it opened. Me and my dog always look forward to the times we can visit the park. I hope that the park becomes a permanent park of Buffalo’s waterfront. Thanks to Jay McCarthy and Dr. Reed for making this happen. Please support any fundraising efforts to enhance the park (fountains, double gates, etc.) Rose and Sydney
I hope everyone is enjoying the new Off Leash Area? Please feel free to use this to blog. If anyone is wondering about the Octobre 15th deadline, we have come to an agreement with Commissioner Sedita to leave the park open til we get our organization in up and running. Thanks!
Sorry for the inconvenience. We have made some pleasant changes. Please use the new BLOG to send out your veiws, stories, comments, concerns, etc. to help make the LaSalle ParkOLA a better place for everyone who uses it.
My husband and tried to bring our 2 BTs to lasalle on tuesday, 10/30 at 4:15 and again at 5:00. We hoped to be able to let them play during the Abner’s Hours. However, we could not let them out because there were too many large dogs, who weren’t supposed to be there. There were Great Danes, German Shepherds, and many other large dogs. We did not feel this was fair to the people with small dogs who should have been able to go there with their small dogs without worry. What can you do to enforce this law on Tuesdays and Sundays?
I’ve noticed that there are now special hours for small dogs, which I am in favor of.In fact those hours should be expanded. What I would like to see is special hours for large dogs.Last week I was in the park with my dog Rusty who is part Redbone Hound.Well Rusty likes to bark, and was barking at a small dog (and I do mean just barking)and the dog’s owners insisted Rusty was harassing their dog.I put Rusty on a leash to avoid any further conflict, but there should be times when I can bring my dog to the OLA and not have to content with the over reactive and over protective owners of some of the smaller dogs.I have nothing against the dogs,it’s the owners who are the problem (and only a couple of them). Most of the smaller and their owners get along fine with the larger dogs.If not special hours for large dogs then perhaps mandatory Prozac for those owners who fear their small dogs need to be hovered over every second.

I love the site - but I am having trouble getting in. I only see what Mr. Wordpress said… is it just me?
